Introduction to no-code platforms

Many companies are in the middle of the transition to Smart Industry. Machines are increasingly connected to each other and people are getting a different role in this. As a result, the role of employees will look different and it is important to take this into account. Software, and in particular Artificial Intelligence (AI), takes over the routine, often simple tasks. This leaves the complex tasks to the employees. The question is whether employees are equipped for this? The holistic perspective at the heart is now more important than ever! In addition to the technical side of the solution, the social aspects are at least as important. The moral and ethical action are the compass here.

A frequently heard problem within organizations is that data is not readily available. Another frequently heard problem is that data from different sources do not communicate with each other or communicate insufficiently with each other. This means that organizations cannot anticipate market conditions quickly enough.

The most important thing is that with a holistic approach, users, customers and technology together form a team. This is the only way to develop apps that can be deployed in one go on all devices and meet all the conditions that have been drawn up beforehand. Low-code/no-code makes it suitable to use a graphical user interface that links and tests the components and interfaces of third parties. The result is a customer-specific dashboard that is fully tailored to the organization and its needs.

With low-code/no-code development several capabilities such as visual models, business process maps, automatic code generation and drag and drop functionalities can be used in building apps.

Why is the concept of no-code on the rise?

According to various reports, the no-code and low-code market is growing by 40% annually. That is awesome! By far the most important reason for this is faster availability and greater innovation opportunities. Now that the world is developing at an enormous pace, it is not inconceivable that innovation and speed is the game changer for organizations.

  • With low-code/no-code development, apps, applications and processes can be created and adapted by people who are not necessarily trained in the IT industry. This takes the burden off IT developers so they are available for the greater innovation, long term development.
  • By applying no-code, work can be done much faster without having to program line by line.
  • The low-code/no-code development process fits in perfectly with the Agile method.

Advantages of low-code/no-code technology

In today's turbulent times, the availability of information is an obvious right of organizations to exist. Think of the reduction of turnaround time in organizations. This applies to both non-profit and profit organizations: reduced maintenance burden, shorter development cycles, enhanced customer experience, rapid prototyping, improved productivity. But also think of having student information available more quickly, linking different study programs, analyses, etc.

Who can all use low-code/no-code apps?

The answer to this question is actually very broad. This method helps both individual professionals and organizations, non-profit and profit, large or small, in all types of markets.

  • Independent professionals, freelancers and consultants; Now that visiting customers is virtually impossible, being visible online is a prerequisite for continuing to generate business. Adapting the service to the rapid developments is an advantage. No-code solutions and a website based on no-code avoids that IT professionals have to be hired all the time to make these adjustments visible. The investments are low and one-off. After that the professional can do it himself. Linking data is then a small trick.
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises; For small and medium-sized businesses, and especially small businesses, the costs related to IT are high. Often not transparent and difficult to manage. In addition, they are almost always dependent on large parties that have to be hired for every problem. This often discourages the entrepreneur from taking steps that should lead to a more efficient organization. He always puts this off for himself. By applying low code/no code these entrepreneurs can use the advantages and values without huge investments.
  • Big Enterprises; The often multiple stakeholders that an organization has to take into account require individual attention and often have diverging interests. For large companies, reducing development time is the most important factor in switching to low-code/no-code.

The different organizational branches that benefit from low-code/no-code technologies

  • Logistics
  • Insurance, accountancy and finance
  • Retail
  • Manufacturing
  • Sales and marketing
  • HR Administration
  • Primary, secondary and higher education
  • Consultancy

What can be made with low-code/no-code?

  • Mobile applications
  • Back office applications
  • Portals and web applications

Despite the fact that development on the basis of low-code/no-code technology is still far from universally known, and certainly does not offer a solution for all questions, this is the future development. With low-code/no-code technology, the organization can respond quickly, effectively and at low cost to current and future developments.
